Olympic Faces: Peeter Pruus

Peeter Pruus is an Estonian MTB professional rider, who will race in Tokyo taking part for the first time in the Olympic Games. “I am feeling superb and honored to has been selected for this special event”.

Peeter got into cycling when he was a kid riding casually with some friends. “I took part in a race and I won it, so after it, I took cycling seriously”. Peeter is 100% dedicated to cycling but he underlines how also family is important. “My dream for the future is to be able to step on the podium at the World Championships“.

Peeter lives and trains in Girona (Spain), but “my real home is in Estonia”. He is almost ready for the road Olympic race, “in the last period I did quite regular training, maybe I just did more on the road bike and I did longer training than usual too. I have also been adapting to the heat”.

The Olympic Road Race will be very hard with 234 kilometers and 4865 meters of positive difference in height. “My first goal is to finish the race and be shot. I am also ready to help my teammate (Tanel Kangert) if needed”. The race will be just after the Opening Ceremony so I won’t take part in it”.

Peeter does both road and MTB competitions. “The worst moment of my career has been when I broke my collarbone, while the best one has been when I won the MTB Marathon Europen Championship in 2016″. Apart from cycling, Peeter likes cars and he speaks many languages: Estonian, Latvian, English, Italian and a bit German.

Thank you very much, Peeter for your time!
